Holiday Villa in Istria Croatia with Private Pool
Istria & Region - Istria

The Romans left some of their most beautiful monuments here, such as the Amphitheatre in Pula. The Venetians built picturesque stone towns, such as Motovun and Groszjnan, and Italy has left an indelible mark with most of the Istrian population speaking both Croatian and Italian.

Istria’s gentle landscapes are however that which truly attracts and invites you to dive deep into her secrets. Often called a ‘Little Tuscany surrounded by the sea’, you can truly experience its unique atmosphere by taking one of the local roads and letting the landscape lead you though the little hills and small valleys, along the vineyards and olive groves, by the rivers and yellow sunflower fields. From afar you will see the green hills melt into a turquoise mixture blending in with the distant sea.

The green hills of the Istrian interior gently rise and fall into fertile wooded valleys and within their folds are impressive stone-built towns perched atop limestone crests. A plain of rich red earth supporting row after row of vines unfurls towards a coast of fishing harbours and towns of character. Cultural life is strong in Istria and the peninsula's closeness to Italy, both geographically and in a historical context, ensures a cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Apart from visiting the main resorts, you might even arrive at the smallest town in the world, Hum, or the Dinosaurs’ footprints at the seaside below Bale. What about the rocky moonscape of Cape Kamenjak at the southermost end of Istria or the Vodnjan mummies – the well preserved bodies of various saints found in the local chuch.

All of this is Istria….and much more.
